Description
Sempervivum tectorum. Jade Rose is a small succulent with light green leaves that flush deep red throughout the year, while in winter the whole rosette can turn a deep rose to burgundy. While it may take a few years the Jade Rose blooms in late summer to early fall. Naturally after the mother plant has bloomed it will die, but the plant will have produced many offsets. This is where the name “Hen and Chicks” comes from, the offsets are clustered around the mother plant similar to a mother hen and her baby chicks. The offsets can be repotted, preferably during the warm season, or left to form a clumping mat. The hardiness zones of this succulent are from 2-9.
