Description
Lucky Red lantana produces clusters of small, tubular flowers in warm shades of yellow, orange, and red above lush green foliage. Its compact, mounding habit is well suited to sunny patio pots, borders, and pollinator plantings. Plants are commonly about 10–12 inches tall and wide, though growing conditions can affect size.
Growing in Alabama and the Southeast
Set out after the danger of frost has passed in Alabama. Give at least six hours of direct sun and well-drained soil; lantana dislikes staying wet. Water deeply while plants establish, then let the upper soil dry somewhat between waterings. Container plants need closer attention during summer heat. Avoid heavy fertilizer, which can favor leaves over flowers. The colorful blooms attract butterflies and other pollinators from late spring into fall. Treat as a warm-season annual where winter freezes damage the plant.
