Description
The Japanese Holly fern is widely known and cultivated for its glossy holly-like leaves, hence the name. At maturity this plant can grow to measure 1-2 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide. The ideal growing conditions of this plant consist of well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter, in partial to full shade, with adequate watering. The soil should be kept moist, but not waterlogged, and should never completely dry out to prevent wilting and discoloration of the leaves. To encourage more growth, this plant can benefit from fertilizer, at half strength, once per month during the growing season. The hardiness zones of the Japanese Holly are 6 to 11.
