Description
Portulaca grandiflora ‘Sundial Fuchsia’ is a low-growing, spreading or trailing moss rose with succulent-like foliage and vivid fuchsia flowers. Plants generally reach about 6–9 inches tall and spread roughly 14–20 inches, making them attractive in sunny beds, edging, patio pots, and hanging baskets. Flowers open best in bright sunlight through the warm season.
Growing in Alabama: Set out after the last spring frost in full sun and sandy or otherwise sharply drained soil. In heavy Alabama clay, use raised beds or containers to prevent wet roots. Water to establish, then let the upper soil dry between waterings; avoid frequent overhead irrigation in humid weather. Remove spent growth as needed to keep plants tidy. Portulaca tolerates summer heat and brief dry spells but is frost tender in most Alabama gardens.
