Peperomia ferreyrae, often called Green Bean Peperomia, has narrow, glossy, bean-shaped green leaves with a distinctive groove along the top. Its compact, upright growth can reach roughly 10–12 inches tall and wide, making it an appealing choice for a small indoor pot or mixed tropical container.
Growing Green Bean Peperomia in Alabama
Give this tender tropical plant bright, indirect light or gentle morning sun. Use a loose potting mix that drains readily while holding a little moisture. Water thoroughly when the upper part of the mix has dried, then let excess water escape; constantly wet roots can rot. Keep it away from cold drafts and protect it when outdoor temperatures cool. In Alabama, grow it primarily as a houseplant or bring patio pots indoors before frost. Outdoors year-round it is suited only to frost-free tropical climates, roughly USDA zones 10–12.
