Description
Matrix Yellow pansy (Viola × wittrockiana) carries cheerful, clear yellow blooms above a dense mound of dark green foliage. Plants generally mature around 6–8 inches tall with an 8–10-inch spread, fitting easily into garden borders, hanging baskets, and patio pots.
Growing Matrix Yellow in Alabama
In Alabama and across the Southeast, pansies perform best from fall through spring. Plant in well-drained, compost-enriched soil when the weather cools. Provide full sun in winter or morning sun with some afternoon protection in warmer locations. Water thoroughly when the top of the soil starts to dry; do not let containers sit in standing water. A light feeding during active growth and occasional deadheading help maintain a full display. Summer heat normally ends the season even when plants have been well cared for.
