Description
Matrix White pansy (Viola × wittrockiana) features clean white blooms over a compact mound of green foliage. Its bright flowers stand out in mixed planters and along walkways, and mature plants are generally about 6–8 inches tall and 8–10 inches wide.
Growing Matrix White in Alabama
For Alabama gardens, plant in fall when daytime temperatures cool. Matrix pansies can bloom through much of winter and into spring, especially with adequate light and steady moisture. Choose full sun in cool months or morning sun where spring afternoons turn hot. Use loose, fertile, well-drained soil and water the root zone when needed without keeping it soggy. Feed lightly during active growth and pinch off spent blooms for a tidy appearance. Expect flowering to slow as summer heat and humidity increase.
