Description
Heartbreaker coleus is grown for striking foliage: rich burgundy leaves with a vivid hot-pink center and bright green edging. Its colorful, leafy habit stands out in patio containers, mixed plantings, and garden borders. The original listing gives a mature size of about 14–26 inches tall and 14–16 inches wide.
For Alabama summers, provide morning sun with afternoon shade or bright filtered light, especially where intense sun can stress the leaves. Plant in rich, well-drained soil and water when the surface starts to dry; containers may need frequent checks during hot weather. Pinch growing tips early for fuller branching, and remove flower spikes if you want the plant’s energy focused on foliage. Allow airflow and avoid prolonged soggy conditions in humid weather. Coleus is frost-sensitive and is generally grown as a warm-season annual in Alabama, although it may overwinter indoors in bright light.
