Growing in Alabama and the Southeast
In Alabama, violas perform best as cool-season bedding plants. Set out in fall, give winter sunshine and well-drained soil enriched with compost, and water consistently during dry spells. Deadhead spent blooms to extend the display. Provide afternoon shade during warm spring weather; plants usually decline once summer heat sets in.
