Description
Saladmore Bush cucumber is a compact, semi-bush variety that produces crisp, dark green cucumbers about 7–8 inches long. With favorable growing conditions, harvest can begin in roughly 55 days. Its shorter vines are well suited to smaller vegetable beds and large containers.
Growing in Alabama
Plant after frost when soil is warm, in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Mix compost into the bed and provide steady moisture, especially during flowering and fruit development; uneven watering can reduce quality. Mulch to limit soil splash and help conserve moisture. Allow space for airflow in humid weather and watch for cucumber beetles and powdery mildew. Pick fruit frequently while firm and tender to encourage continued production. A second late-summer planting may be possible where enough warm growing days remain.
