Description
Fluffy Ruffles fern (Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Fluffy Ruffles’) is loved for its lush, bright green fronds with finely ruffled edges. The soft, full texture brings a fresh tropical look to hanging baskets, shaded porches, and indoor planters. Under good conditions, plants may reach around 1–2 feet tall with a spread of 2–3 feet.
Place in bright indirect light or filtered shade and use a moisture-retentive but freely draining potting mix rich in organic matter. Keep the soil consistently damp, not waterlogged, and avoid letting the root ball dry completely. Alabama humidity is helpful, but protect fronds from intense afternoon sun and cold drafts. Feed lightly during active growth and trim brown fronds as needed. This tender fern is generally hardy in Zones 10–11; bring containers inside before the first frost in Alabama.
