Description
Kauai White wishbone flower (Torenia fournieri) produces bright white, delicately shaped flowers above a compact mound of fresh green foliage. Plants typically grow around 10–12 inches tall and 14–16 inches wide, making this variety especially useful for brightening shaded beds, porch pots, window boxes, and mixed summer containers. Flowers continue through the warm growing season when plants are kept comfortable.
Growing in Alabama: Set plants outdoors after frost in rich, well-drained soil or potting mix. Provide morning sun and afternoon shade, or bright filtered light, to protect flowers and foliage during Alabama’s hottest weather. Water regularly enough to keep soil lightly and evenly moist without waterlogging the roots. Light fertilizer during active growth can support flowering. Allow airflow around plants in humid weather. Torenia is frost-tender and normally grown as an annual in Alabama.
