Description
Kauai Mix wishbone flower (Torenia fournieri) combines complementary shades of purple and lavender in an easy-to-use flowering mix. Compact, leafy plants develop a rounded habit and typically reach about 10–12 inches tall and 14–16 inches wide. The unusual, snapdragon-like blooms add bright color to porch planters, window boxes, and partly shaded garden beds through the warm months.
Growing in Alabama: Plant after the last frost in fertile, well-drained soil. Morning sun or bright partial shade works best; protect plants from intense late-day summer sun. Keep the root zone evenly moist, particularly in containers, but do not leave pots standing in water. A light feeding during the growing season supports continued bloom, and good airflow is helpful in humid weather. Treat torenia as a frost-tender annual in most Alabama gardens.
