Description
Gold Zebra heucherella (foamy bells) forms a compact mound of eye-catching golden-yellow foliage marked with darker red to burgundy centers and veins. The colorful leaves brighten shaded borders and containers, with a mature spread of roughly 1–2 feet. This perennial combines attractive foliage with a tidy, clump-forming habit.
In Alabama, give Gold Zebra morning sun or bright shade with protection from intense afternoon sun, which can scorch pale foliage. Plant in loose, organic-rich soil that drains well, and water when the surface begins to dry. Mulch lightly to keep roots cool without burying the crown. It benefits from consistent moisture during summer but should never sit in saturated soil. Remove damaged leaves as needed and divide older clumps if they become crowded. Generally hardy in USDA Zones 4–9.
