Description
‘Brass Lantern’ heucherella is a colorful foliage perennial with maple-shaped leaves and striking dark red veining. Its layered, mounding growth brings warm tones to shaded borders, while airy white flowers on reddish stems add interest in early summer.
Growing in Alabama
Choose partial shade or filtered light and moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Morning sun is generally fine, but protection from harsh afternoon sun is helpful during Alabama’s humid summers. Water during dry spells, keeping the crown above the soil line and avoiding soggy conditions. Remove tired leaves as needed and divide established clumps when crowded.
Size: A low mound spreading approximately 1–2 feet wide, with flower stalks rising above the foliage. Uses: Woodland edges, shaded beds, and mixed containers. Well-drained soil is important for reliable performance.
