Description
Santo cilantro ‘Santo’ cilantro (Coriandrum sativum) supplies fragrant green leaves for salsa, salads, and many savory dishes. If allowed to flower and set seed, the dried seeds can be harvested as coriander.
Growing and Care
Cilantro is a cool-season herb in Alabama, despite its reputation as a summer kitchen staple. Sow in fall or early spring in well-drained soil with sun to light shade. Keep soil evenly moist and harvest leaves often. Hot weather and lengthening days encourage bolting, so plant successive small crops for a longer harvest.
Size and use: Plants may reach about 1–2 feet tall and wide when flowering. Usually grown as an annual.
