Description
Dragon Wing Red is a vigorous hybrid begonia with arching stems, glossy wing-shaped green leaves and clusters of red flowers. Its graceful habit makes it an excellent choice for large containers, hanging baskets, shaded borders and porch displays. Plants commonly grow about 12–15 inches tall and spread 15–18 inches, depending on conditions.
Growing in Alabama and the Southeast
This heat-tolerant begonia performs well in Alabama, especially with bright filtered light, morning sun or afternoon shade. It can tolerate more sun when moisture is consistent, but harsh afternoon exposure may scorch foliage in the hottest locations. Plant in rich, well-drained soil, water when the surface starts to dry and avoid saturated roots. Feed lightly during active growth. Protect from freezing temperatures; it is typically used as a warm-season annual outdoors.
