Description
Beacon Red impatiens produces rich red flowers that stand out beautifully against deep green foliage. This shade-loving annual makes a bold statement in mass plantings, containers, and hanging baskets. Like other Beacon impatiens, it was bred for strong resistance to impatiens downy mildew.
Growing Beacon Red Impatiens
Choose partial to full shade and fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly to maintain even moisture, particularly in pots during Alabama summers, but avoid waterlogged roots. Morning sun or dappled light can work well; protect plants from scorching afternoon exposure. Allow space between plants for airflow and continue routine garden sanitation even with a disease-resistant variety. Flowers can carry on until the first frost.
Mature size: Approximately 14–18 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide. Use: Shaded borders, mass color, hanging baskets, and patio pots.
