Description
The Francee Hosta is a large mound-forming clumps of foliage, flaunting lush green leaves edged in a crisp cream outline. When fully grown, it stands about 1-2 feet tall and spreads 2-4 feet wide. In the right conditions, it produces bell-shaped, light purple flowers that dangle from stalks above the leaves in late summer. The optimal conditions for this variety include well-draining clay or loam soil that stays moist, placement in an area with mostly shade with some sunlight and sufficient watering depending on the location. Its fragrant flowers attract hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators. Removing spent flower stalks enhances the plant’s appearance and promotes new growth, while clearing dead foliage in autumn readies the hosta for the following season.
