Description
Tagetes patula ‘Strawberry Blonde’ is a compact French marigold with distinctive flowers that shift through rosy, peach, apricot, and yellow tones as they age. Its finely divided foliage and bushy habit suit borders, mass plantings, and containers. Plants generally grow about 8–10 inches tall and 6–8 inches wide.
Growing in Alabama: Plant after the last spring frost in full sun and well-drained soil. Water at the base when the top inch of soil dries; avoid keeping roots constantly wet during humid weather. Remove faded flowers to encourage fresh blooms, and provide air circulation. Marigolds perform through much of the warm season but may slow during extreme summer heat; they are not frost hardy.
