Description

Salvia officinalis golden sage is a compact culinary herb with aromatic green leaves edged in warm cream-to-gold tones. Plants generally reach about 1–2 feet tall and wide, bringing color to herb gardens and mixed containers.

Growing in Alabama

Choose a sunny location with loose, sharply drained soil. In the humid Southeast, raised beds and containers can help protect roots from persistent moisture. Water while establishing, then allow the top of the soil to dry between waterings. Harvest leaves sparingly for cooking and prune lightly to encourage fresh growth. Provide good airflow and avoid heavy fertilization, which can encourage soft growth.
