Description
Moses in the Cradle plants are perennial, evergreen, and clump-forming, reaching up to 12 inches (30 cm) in height and blooming at any time of the year, with small, white flowers nestled within distinctive bracts. These unique blooms are what give the plant its name. Their sword-shaped leaves are green on top with a purple underside. These plants thrive in bright, indirect light ensuring they are protected from harsh mid-day and afternoon sun and can also adapt to partial shade. An ideal growing medium is well-draining potting soil enriched with organic matter. For optimal growth, a monthly dose of fertilizer is recommended during the warmer months. Repotting every few years in the spring is advised, and pruning is unnecessary unless it’s to maintain a specific shape. The Moses in the Cradle is not frost hardy and has hardiness zones from 9 to 11.
