Growing in Alabama and the Southeast
Plant pansies in fall or late winter for the best display. They thrive in Alabama’s cool fall, winter, and early spring weather but usually fade as summer heat arrives. Choose full sun in the cool season or a site with some afternoon shade as temperatures rise. Use fertile, well-drained soil and water deeply when the top layer begins to dry; never leave roots sitting in water. Feed lightly during active growth and remove spent flowers to keep plants tidy.
