Description
Petunia × hybrida Madness Double Mix produces a lively mix of double, ruffled petunia blooms in assorted colors against green foliage. This low-growing, spreading petunia is useful for seasonal color; the original listing describes plants around 10–15 inches tall with a spread of roughly 10–12 inches. The extra petals create a full, showy look in hanging baskets, patio planters, and the front of flower beds.
Growing in Alabama and the Southeast
Plant in a spot with at least six hours of sun and fertile, well-drained soil or quality potting mix. Water thoroughly at planting and keep soil evenly moist, not soggy; containers may need daily checks during warm, windy weather. Feed lightly and regularly during active growth to support flowering. In Alabama, petunias usually perform best in spring and fall. Prolonged summer heat, humidity, and heavy rain can slow flowering, so provide airflow and monitor moisture closely.
Double blooms can hold rainwater, so give plants airflow and remove weather-damaged flowers to keep them looking fresh. Protect from hard freezes, and use as a seasonal annual in most Alabama landscapes.
