Description

Antirrhinum majus Liberty Bronze is a tall garden snapdragon with upright flower spikes in warm bronze, rose, and yellow tones above green foliage. Plants typically grow about 18–22 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide. The blooms add color to flower beds, patio containers, and fresh-cut arrangements.

Growing in Alabama

Snapdragons are at their best in Alabama’s cool seasons. Plant in fall for color through mild winter periods and spring, or set out in late winter for a spring show. Choose full sun, fertile well-drained soil, and regular watering without leaving roots soggy. Deadhead spent spikes to encourage more flowers, and feed lightly as plants grow. Flowering usually slows during prolonged summer heat, so treat snapdragons primarily as cool-season annuals.

Space plants for airflow and watch for rust or other leaf diseases in persistently damp weather. Flower spikes are attractive to pollinators and excellent for cutting.
