Description

The Purple Heart, a favored trailing perennial, is distinguished by its striking foliage of slender, pointed, purple leaves. This captivating plant yields petite clusters of vivid pale-pink, three-petaled flowers that consistently bloom in warm weather. It is an ideal choice for border fronts, edging, ground cover, or container gardening. At maturity this plant can grow to measure 1 to 2 feet tall and wide. It prefers loamy, well-drained moist soil, full to partial sun exposure, and average watering. Pinching back spent stems can be done to encourage a bushier plant and reblooming. The Purple Heart is drought resilient and is suitable for hardiness zones 10 to 11.
