Description
Hemerocallis ‘Pardon Me’ is a compact, reblooming daylily with fragrant cranberry-red flowers and bright yellow-green throats. Individual blooms last about a day, but fresh buds provide a longer display. Flowers appear mainly in mid- to late summer, with repeat bloom possible into fall. Clumps typically grow about 18 inches tall and spread roughly 18–24 inches. This hardy perennial is commonly grown in USDA Zones 3–9.
Growing Pardon Me Daylily in Alabama
Plant in full sun for the most flowers; a little afternoon shade can help deep red blooms hold their color in extreme heat. Use well-drained soil improved with compost, and water deeply during establishment and extended dry spells. Once rooted, daylilies tolerate typical Alabama heat and periods of drought. Remove spent flower stalks and divide crowded clumps every few years, preferably during cooler weather. ‘Pardon Me’ is a good choice for perennial borders, walkways, and small garden spaces.
