Nephrolepis biserrata, Macho

Description

The Macho fern is a very large, space filling, statement making plant that produces shiny, simple fern-shaped leaves. At maturity this plant can grow to measure about 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide. The ideal growing conditions of this plant consist of well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter, in bright indirect light, with adequate watering. The soil should be kept moist, but not waterlogged, and should never completely dry out to prevent wilting and discoloration of the leaves. The Macho fern prefers an atmosphere with high humidity but can tolerate average humidity. To encourage more growth this plant can benefit from fertilizer, at half strength, once per month during the growing season. The hardiness zones of this plant are 9 to 10.
