Description
Graceful Grasses Fiber Optic adds fine, arching green stems tipped with tiny white flower heads that resemble glowing fiber-optic lights. Often sold as fiber-optic grass, this plant is botanically a sedge rather than a true grass. It makes a soft, airy accent in containers, borders, and moisture-loving plant combinations. Plants typically reach about 10–14 inches tall and wide.
In Alabama, grow in full sun to part shade with consistently moist soil. Unlike many drought-tolerant ornamental grasses, fiber-optic sedge appreciates frequent watering and can be useful near water features or in pots that do not dry out. Container plants may need daily moisture checks during hot weather. Trim tired stems to refresh the display. It is frost-sensitive in colder locations and is commonly grown as a warm-season accent; perennial performance varies with winter conditions, roughly USDA Zones 8–10.
