Description
Red Tip Echeveria (Echeveria agavoides) forms a tidy succulent rosette of thick, pointed lime-green leaves with attractive reddish tips. The leaf tips are part of the foliage, not true spines. Mature rosettes may reach about 6 inches tall and 8 inches across. This compact plant is especially attractive in succulent bowls, shallow containers and bright indoor displays.
Care in Alabama
Grow in a gritty, fast-draining cactus or succulent mix in a pot with a drainage hole. Provide several hours of bright light, introducing outdoor sun gradually to prevent leaf scorch; light afternoon shade can help during Alabama’s hottest summer weather. Water thoroughly only after the mix has dried, and reduce watering substantially in cool weather. Keep water from standing in the rosette. Red Tip is frost tender (generally suited to USDA Zones 9–11), so bring containers inside before freezing temperatures in most of Alabama.
