Description
Pacifica Apricot annual vinca (Catharanthus roseus) produces cheerful soft apricot-to-pink flowers with contrasting rosy-red eyes above dense green foliage. It forms a tidy, mounding-to-upright plant, commonly about 6–18 inches tall and wide, and provides long-lasting color in summer flower beds, borders, and containers. Its blooms are especially welcome when Alabama temperatures climb.
Plant in full sun after nights have warmed and frost danger has passed. Choose well-drained soil, and let the surface dry slightly between deep waterings; vinca dislikes constantly wet roots. In the humid Southeast, space plants for good airflow, avoid overhead watering when possible, and do not overfertilize. Pacifica Apricot typically flowers from late spring or early summer through fall. Though the species is perennial in tropical Zones 9–11, it is usually grown as a warm-season annual in Alabama and should be protected from frost.
